Woronora Heights is an established residential and parkland area. Woronora Heights is bounded by Warrangarree Drive and the suburb of Woronora in the north, Loftus Creek in the east, Forbes Creek and the suburb of Engadine in the south and the Woronora River in the west. Woronora is named from an Aboriginal word meaning “black rock”.

Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s. Growth was minimal until the early 1900s. The population grew steadily during the post-war years. Significant development occurred from the mid 1980s. The population increased slightly during the 1990s, and then was relatively stable between 2001 and 2006, a result of some new dwellings being added, but a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.

Major features of the area include Woronora Heights Oval and Woronora Heights Shopping Centre.
